Check out Business Card Quest 2023 Jam kicking off on Dec 27!

Welcome to the Business Card Quest!

Business Card Quest is a tabletop RPG adventure that is made up from prompts and map pieces found on the back of business cards that you collect at conventions!

Keep and combine your cards to form a map full of prompts that you can use for an eclectic and exciting adventure... and turn the whole gaming convention into a game itself!

For Business Card Questers:

When you find a participating Quest Giver (vendor or creator), make sure to collect and keep their business card! The back has an adventure prompt and map piece on it that connects to others to create an adventure for the system of your choosing!

To play:

  • Pick a system (there's some suggestions here)
  • Shuffle the business cards into a deck with the non-map side face up
  • Draw the top card from the deck
  • Place the card, map side up on the table
  • Follow the prompt before moving on and placing the next card

One thing I do want to note here is that TTRPGkids is kid-friendly and geared at running all ages or kid-focused games. However, not everyone participating in the Business Card Quest is going to follow that because they're going to want to showcase their particular work and style. Because of that, please make sure to check the content on each card to see if it's appropriate for your players before including in your adventures.

For Business Card Quest Givers:

Join in with other vendors to become a Quest Giver and help get your business cards out there and used by others!

Being a Quest Giver helps in several of ways:

  • People are more likely to take and keep your business card
  • People will see your business card every time they play
  • You can showcase the art and vibe from your game
  • It's an awesome way to connect with other Quest Givers

To participate, make a map piece or other game element following the Business Card Quest templates (linked below or on Canva) or make your own following the dimensions in the guides linked below.  Put this to go on the back of your business cards.  Include a short prompt, the scan code to this page, and any additional information you want to include. I have some tips and templates in the attachments below.

At the convention, point out the map when you give out a card and let Questers know that you are a Quest Giver and to look for other Quest Givers too!

*please note that if you will be making physical prints of your cards, check your particular printer's print area or proof overlay to make sure your cards come out the way you want*

This is a great idea :D It might be fun to have "choose your own adventure" type choices like: If you go West go to booth D34, if you go North go to booth D12. It would take a few dedicated booths to design the game. It should loop back. This is sort of like a stamp rally, but more fun.

Oh, I like that idea a lot!  Get people questing to different booths!

Oh my goodness, I love this! I've made business card games before but never like a BUSINESS CARD game that has my info and stuff on it and is meant to be kept for that reason. I already downloaded it and I'm excited to see what we can do with this :D

Yes!!  I really want to get this going for a whole gaming convention - everyone would seeking out and then keeping business cards!  I'm glad you like it, and I cannot wait to see what map piece you make!

Yeah exactly! It would really make it fun, and fun in a unified way, to explore everywhere in a convention and collect them all. And it's awesome that there's plenty of room for each creator to play, adding their own theme and art to it so it can feel like an epic quilt at the end.

100%!  It's like being able to give a little 1 minute pitch of "this is my style of gaming" and it turns the whole convention into almost a trading card game.  Really hoping this takes off!

I dunno how doable it would be, but I'd also love if there was a jam or something at some point with this so it'd be easy for people who aren't at conventions to discover them and make/trade/etc them :D

Oh, this is going on the list for 2023!  I've been wanting to run a game jam for a while now, and I think this would be a great opportunity for that!  People can showcase what they've made, share templates, etc.  I think it'll be a lot of fun.
