What does "The Wolf Woods" mean?

The Wolf Woods refer to the old woods in what is now the Kilkenny region of Ireland. These woods were once home to packs of wolves along with legends of Faoladh, werewolves.

Faoladh were once considered protectors of children, the injured, and the lost. Overtime, these stories shifted towards those of curses and religious influence. Eventually, Irish wolves (real wolves) were also hunted to extinction as cities expanded.

This brochure is a game where you’ll explore shifting myths and the decline of Ireland’s wolf population in three different phases.

3 Stories to Play 

Welcome to: The Wolf Woods has three phases of play that show how stories change over time, and how humans have an impact on the natural world.

Start with Phase 1, where you play as Faoladh who are making the woods safer for folks by protecting children and lost travelers.

Move on to Phase 2, which showcases how religious influences began to change various myths... and complete set up for the final phase.

Conclude with Phase 3 where you'll now take on the role of wolf hunters who are now using the areas that you made safe in the past to hunt the Irish wolf population to extinction.

1-Player

This is a 1-player game where you’ll be acting out a story by altering the map through various phases versus trying to beat a clock or another person.
